This is something I understand deeply. I’ve moved several times myself, including between countries, and I know exactly where things start to become complicated—not with the big decisions, but with the small ones. When you don’t know the system, don’t speak the language, work on a different schedule than the environment around you, when one parent is often away, and when a child has additional health challenges. That’s when things no longer resolve themselves.
This family was moving from Italy to Slovenia. The father is Italian, the mother is from Canada. Different worlds, all needing to come together in one new beginning.
It quickly becomes clear that it’s not enough just to know how to call a contractor.

Of course, we first searched for a temporary home, and then for the house that would become their new home. We organized the space, the materials, the air quality, and the ventilation—everything that was important for their daughter’s health.
But that wasn’t the main part.
The main part was holding everything together.
The move itself from Italy to Slovenia—first the father, then the mother and daughter. Organizing daily life around his night schedule, since he works with the American market. Coordinating home life, work, and everyday responsibilities. Nursery school, doctors, dentists, first encounters with the language, understanding how the system works.
And at the same time, all the things you can’t plan in advance—arranging a nanny when needed, organizing private transportation so getting around was simple and stress-free.
And this is where something interesting happens.
You become almost invisible, yet an essential part of the process.
Because things run smoothly.
Because no one has to explain too much.
Because you are already one or two steps ahead.
Because you simply handle things, coordinate, and hold everything together—quietly, but with care.
And then the moment comes when you realize they are no longer “in the middle of a move.”
They are home.
